Error 9602 indicates that there may be something wrong with the patient’s Medicare card or Medicare record, that doesn’t get picked up on a verification. Possible causes for this error include
  1. the Medicare details that are being sent through differ to what is on the patient record at Medicare
  2. there may be an issue with the bank account details
  3. the patient may have reported a lost card
  4. the patient may have exceeded the maximum number of items that can be charged on a specific referral type
  5. Services Australia has placed a flag on the patient's Medicare account preventing further patient claims from being processed electronically
The error report doesn't indicate what the issue is. Double-check that the Medicare details are correct, otherwise advise the patient to contact Medicare and to check their details and Medicare claims history.
