List Importer Tips & Tricks
The List Importer function in Cutting Edge software has several uses and functions you may not be aware of, as well as some limitations.
File Size Limitations
You may occasionally find when using the importer that the file you're attempting to import is too large. This can happen if the resolution is too high, or if the document has too many pages. If the file is too large, you can try converting it to an image format like .png, or you can try removing extraneous pages. The importer will only look at the first 10 pages of your document, so removing any pages beyond that limit is a good place to start. If you want to export the document at a lower resolution or as an image format, you can do so on Mac/Apple devices with a Quartz filter called "Reduce Size", and on Windows/Linux machines you can try an image editing software.
On iPhones, photos are typically stored in a proprietary format called HEIC. We are currently not able to import this file type. You can change the settings on your iPhone using one of the following options:
- Change Camera Settings (for future photos):
- Go to Settings > Camera > Formats.
- Select “Most Compatible” to save new photos as JPEG.
- Convert Existing HEIC Photos to JPG:
- Open the Photos app and select the HEIC images you want to convert.
- Tap the Share icon, then select “Copy Photos”.
- Open the Files app and create a new folder (or choose an existing one).
- Long-press in the folder and select “Paste”. The photos will be pasted as JPG files.
Importing List Documents via email
If you need to process a list document without logging into Cutting Edge, you can use our email importer.
- Create an email and attach the list document
- Make sure to remove any other attachments
- Make sure to delete any images in your signature or header
- Send the email to scanner+providernumber@cesoft.com.au, replacing providernumber with your servicing provider number
The next time you log into the software, check the List Importer > Pending tab to find your processed document and proceed with the invoice creation process.
