Medibank Private Short Stay contract arrangements

Medibank Private Short Stay contract arrangements

Some providers contract with Medibank Private to provide short-stay no-gap services for selected procedures, typically for joint replacements. See https://www.medibank.com.au/health-support/health-services/joint/
These services attract a higher rebate than the normal Medibank Private schedule. The actual rates for each service are not published and need to be set up for each provider prior to claiming.

To set up Medibank Private Short Stay in Cutting Edge there are a few steps.

1. Once the provider has entered into an agreement with MBP to provide Short Stay service, mark the provider as a MBP Short Stay Contractor in Settings > Online.

2. From an invoice with the relevant item number, click on the arrow to the left of the item number to go to the Custom Item screen.

In the bottom right of the Custom Item screen enter this provider's contracted amount for this item. Repeat Step 2 for any other items you need to use.

3. On the invoice,
  1. enter the patient details and Medicare details,
  2. select MBP as the fund and enter Member number,
  3. select MBPSS as the Fee Basis,
  4. enter the items.
This configuration will apply the contracted rate and highlight the fee for any items setup in the previous step, and the use regular MBP fees for other items.
The invoice will be sent as a no gap invoice to Medibank Private when you submit.
