Migrating your data from the Access Anaesthetics Remote Server
In order to move your data from the remote server to your local PC, follow the steps below. In order for this to work, you'll need a computer running Windows natively, or a virtual machine running Windows on your computer. Access Anaesthetics requires windows to run and WILL NOT WORK on Mac or Linux distributions.
Part one - Installing Access Anaesthetics on your computer
Step one - Download Microsoft Access 2010 32 Bit and install
- Go to our website: https://www.cesoft.com.au and click "here" under the section "Access Anaesthetics has moved"
- Click "FAQ and Manuals for Access Anaesthetics"
- Click "Installation" from the options on the right side
- Click "Download the Trial version of AA" from the options on the right side
- Click "Runtime 2010" from the options on the right side
- Click the red "Download" button, then tick the first option and click "Next"
- Install the software that has been downloaded, saying "Yes" if it asks if you would like it to make changes to your computer
Step two - Download Trial version of Access Anaesthetics and install
- Go back to the "Download the trial version of AA" page (Follow steps a through d from previous step if you've closed it accidentally)
- Click "Access Anaesthetics Trial Version (19 MB)" from the options on the right side (On some computers, you may have to right click the link and select "Open in private session" or the version your browser uses)
- Install this software
- You may get a warning from Windows saying the software isn't trusted. Click "More Info" from the bottom left of the popup, then click "Install Anyway".
- Follow the prompts to install AA
- You should just be able to click "Next" repeatedly until it installs
Part two - Moving your data from the server
Step one - Making a location for the data on your computer
- Open File Explorer (Yellow folder icon on the bottom of your screen) and navigate to "This PC", then click the icon labelled "C:\"
- From here, click the folder labelled "Access Anaesthetics". By default, it should be near the top.
- In this folder, right click and select "Create New Folder" and name the new folder "Manual Backup"
- The name of the folder isn't too important, but it's a good idea to name it something like that so you can easily find it later
Step two - Giving Remote Desktop Connection access to local files
- Open "Remote Desktop Connection", most people have it as an icon on their desktop that they use to log into the virtual server. DO NOT CONNECT TO THE SERVER YET.
- On the bottom left of the small window that opens, click "Show Options" and then click "Local Resources" from the new row of options at the top, then click the "More" button near the bottom
- From the new screen that opens, ensure the "Drives" option has a tick
- Click OK and log into the virtual server
Step three - Create a backup of your server data and move it to the local PC
- Open the windows File Explorer in the server and ensure that your local "C:\" drive is visible on the list of options on the left
- Open AA in the server, go to the maintenance menu and click "Backup Data Files"
- In the new window, ensure that the backup location starts with Z. If it dows not, click the yellow folder icon to the left of the window and navigate to the Z:\Access Anaesthetics folder and click Save
- If your practice has multiple users in AA, click "Multi-User Backup". Otherwise, click "Backup"
- Now, go back to the filer server on the Remote Server and find the backup. Right click on the zipped folder and select "Copy"
- In this file explorer, navigate to the C:\Access Anaesthetics folder in your local PC
- Click "C on DESKTOP-LettersNumbers" and go into the Access Anaesthetics folder
- Go into the "Manual Backup" folder created earlier and paste.
- Depending on the size of your practice, this may take a long time. Ensure that the server doesn't time you out during the process.
- Once this is done, close AA on the server and log off
Part 3 - Installing the backup onto your new local copy of Access Anaesthetics
Step one - Installing
- Open Access Anaesthetics on your local computer
- There should be a logo on your desktop
- Ignore any security warnings, we'll deal with those later
- Go to the Maintenance Menu and select "Restore from backup"
- Click "Select here for the file you want to restore" and navigate to the Manual Backup folder created earlier, then double click the zipped file
- From the new window, select "Restore all files" from the list and click Next
- Follow the prompts until the process begins. Once complete, your local copy of Access Anaesthetics should have all your data on it
Step two - Security Warning
- While AA is open, go to the Maintenance Menu and click "Tools" from the top left. From here, click "Access Security Warning"
- Click "Okay" from the window that pops up, this will disable the security warning that pops up when you open AA
Part 4 - Support
If you don't have the time to go through this or need assistance, send an email to
support@cesoft.com.au and ask for a remote assistance session for moving your data off the server. A trained support staff member will get back to you and organise a time where they can remotely log into your computer and get this process done for you.
